What you'll find in the Food category on Talata
The Food category on Talata brings together everything from ready-to-eat meals to raw ingredients, sorted into subcategories so it's easy to browse. Whether you want a rice box near home, seasonal fruit, or frozen items to stock up on, you can find it in one place.
Homemade, local, and street food
This group is ready-to-eat food that home cooks and small vendors list themselves — homemade and local dishes, fast food, grilled street food, plus pizza, sushi, and salads. It suits anyone who wants food made by someone nearby at a friendly price, with the chance to ask the cook directly how it's prepared or how spicy it is.
Fresh food — meat, seafood, fruit, and vegetables
If you're looking for ingredients to cook with, the fresh group covers meat and poultry, fresh seafood, dairy and eggs, and seasonal fruits and vegetables from local growers and sellers. Freshness matters most here, so buyers should check real photos and ask about the catch or harvest date before deciding.
Pantry, bakery, snacks, drinks, and frozen food
The last group is food that keeps longer — dry goods and seasonings, bread, cakes and pastries, snacks and sweets, coffee, tea and drinks, juices and smoothies, and frozen food you can store for a while. There are also specific groups such as organic, vegan and gluten-free food, and baby food for shoppers looking for something particular.
How to buy food on Talata and get good, safe products
Buying food is different from buying other items because freshness and cleanliness really matter. To get good products, look at the real photos in a listing, read whether the food is freshly made or ready to ship, then compare prices and seller locations across a few sellers before deciding. Listings that state the quantity, production or expiry date, and how to store the food tend to be more trustworthy than ones that only show a price.
Before you pay or arrange pickup, message the seller and ask everything you need — freshness, packaging, how the temperature is kept during delivery, and which payment method is convenient. Some sellers let you pick up locally, others deliver; it depends on each seller. For fresh items like seafood or meat, meeting nearby or choosing a seller who uses insulated packaging goes a long way toward avoiding spoilage.
Selling food on Talata: what you can sell and how to start
If you cook well or have food to sell, Talata lets you post food listings online for free, with no storefront needed. The advantage is that you talk to buyers directly, set your own price, and decide whether to offer pickup or delivery.
Who can sell, and what food sells well
Sellers in this category come in many forms — home cooks working from their own kitchen, street food vendors, farmers with seasonal produce, homemade dessert and bakery makers, and small shops adding a sales channel. If you're unsure what food to sell, the items that move easily are usually dishes you can make consistently and store or ship without losing quality, such as rice boxes, snacks, bakery, dry goods, or frozen food. Seasonal fresh items like fruit and seafood also sell well when you communicate freshness clearly.
One thing sellers should know before starting is food safety standards. Selling small amounts of homemade food at retail is straightforward to begin, but processed food packaged for commercial sale — such as chili paste, snacks, or dry goods in sealed packaging — usually needs an FDA (อย.) registration number and may require registering the production site. It's best to check the latest requirements with the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or your local public health office before you start, for the peace of mind of both seller and buyer.
